Edisto Beach State Park

There is plenty to see and do at this state park, including fishing, boating, swimming, camping, hiking, and biking. Multiple trails filled with oak trees, Spanish moss, and palmetto trees make up the family friendly park. 

Fripp Island

Beaufort History Museum

Located in downtown Beaufort within the historic Arsenal built in 1798, the Beaufort History Museum hosts multiple educating exhibits. 

Fort Fremont

Fort Fremont dates back to the 1890's Spanish - American War. The fort is a fifteen acre site full of history and education having been built in 1889 and being active until 1912.

National Cemetery

The Beaufort National Cemetery is one of the six national cemeteries for union troops and sailors who died during the Civil War. This cemetery was founded in 1863 and is the burial grounds for numerous fallen soldiers.

Old Barnwell House 

Built in 1789, this home is made of local Beaufort building materials including the cement mixture created by oyster shells, tabby. The home features Adam style architecture with a stucco covered exterior, a classic example of an original Southern home.

Old Sheldon Church

Right outside of Beaufort, the ruins of Old Sheldon Church in Yemassee can be toured. Originally known as the Prince William Parish Church, this is one of the first churches in the United States built in temple form.

Penn Center

Located on St. Helena Island, the Penn Center is a great trip to make when visiting Beaufort to understand the depths of African American history and culture. 

Robert Smalls House

Robert Smalls was a civil war hero, and one of the first African Americans elected into US Congress. Located on Prince Street, his home features beautiful architecture and historic design. 

Tabby Manse

Found on Bay Street and once home to Thomas Fuller, Tabby Manse is considered one of the finest early Beaufort homes. The house was built in 1876 to mimic Charleston - styled houses known for their superb mantels, stairways, and large, evenly proportioned rooms. 

Verdier House

Located on Scott's Street, John Mark Verdier a successful merchant and planter, built the Federal - style mansion in 1804. During the Union occupation of Beaufort the home served as an army headquarters in 1863.

Take a fifty minute horse and carriage ride and learn all about historic Beaufort. The tour highlights the Civil War era, Antebellum and Victorian architecture, as well as Hollywood movie sites.

Spanish Moss Trail

The Spanish Moss Trail is a seven mile long path perfect for hiking, biking, or fishing. The trail was originally the historic Magnolia Line Railroad built in 1870, but has since become a popular trail used to enjoy the local nature.
